Region Blekinge Chooses Centuri for a Unified Approach to Incidents, Complaints, and Suggestions for Improvement
Region Blekinge has signed an eight-year agreement with Centuri AB for system support related to deviations, complaints, and suggestions for improvement. The goal is to establish a unified approach across the entire region, and the first workflows within the healthcare system will go live in November 2026.
One system for the entire region
Region Blekinge is responsible for healthcare in Blekinge County. Care is provided at Blekinge Hospital in Karlskrona and Karlshamn, as well as through primary care facilities throughout the county. In addition to healthcare, the region has other operations that, over time, will also be able to report through the same system. Deviations and feedback arise in a wide variety of settings, from hospital wards to patient transport and transitions between regional and municipal care.
With Centuri, the region is replacing its current system support. Reporting should be simple for those working in clinical settings. Investigators and management should gain a comprehensive overview of each case and be able to track patterns and the effects of interventions over time. As a healthcare provider, the region is also subject to the National Board of Health and Welfare’s requirements for management systems for systematic quality and patient safety work, where documented handling and traceability are prerequisites.
From procurement to operation in November
The agreement covers Centuri’s case management system, delivered as a cloud service operated in Sweden, as well as an implementation project that includes training for the region’s incident coordinators, administrators, and staff. The agreement runs for eight years with an option to extend. The implementation will begin in the healthcare sector, with patient-related deviations as the first workflow, and additional operations and workflows can be added over time.
The choice was made following an open procurement process with a prior market dialogue, during which the system was practically validated against the region’s own scenarios. For Centuri, the assignment is based on three key elements: workflows and forms tailored to the region’s working methods rather than the other way around; experience in healthcare from both regional and private healthcare providers; and a platform that can scale to accommodate additional operations and processes without the region having to switch systems again.
“Incident management in healthcare is patient safety in practice. Every report is an opportunity to prevent the same thing from happening again – but only if it leads to action. That’s the chain we’re here to help Region Blekinge keep intact. We look forward to putting the first workflows into operation in November and, together with the region, building a way of working that grows as more operations are added”, says Jens Hållstrand Möller, CRO at Centuri.
